Fall Fashion

So my FAVORITE season is here…FALL! It will be full of utilitarian looks, military touches, tailored menswear and so much more. This fall is made out of ACCESSORIES: jewelry, bangs and shoes. You can do some much with your outfit depending on how you play off your accessories. The fall color palette will have you excited with rich camel and crème naturals. Just because its fall doesn’t mean you can’t play with citrus brights of sunburst yellow, oxford reds, and deep purples. This season is based off of TRUE CLASSICS: MINIMALISM.

Fur

Fur has swiped the runways and soon finding its way into your closet.  The reason why I love this trend so much because it comes in so many different shapes and forms: ultra-plush fur peacoat, fur vest and fur accessories of a cape, scarf or even a hat.  You can find quality and a variety of faux furs any and everywhere; when you least expect it.

Menswear

Beautifully tailored details of sharp edges, deep creases, double breast all describes menswear. Menswear comes in so many different styles that make any women just as sexy if she were in her normal pencil skirt or suit.

Chunky Knit Sweaters

Nothing feels cozier during cool days and breezy nights than a chunky knit sweater. This makes a perfect option for laying. No matter the style of the cardigan, dress it up or down; it really goes with everything. You can pair it with not just your basic jeans but classic trousers or a belted skirt.

Camel Coat

Ok in the past I’ve never been a fan of the camel coat but now there are so many different variations I had no choice but to only fall in love. This is a fall must have for all women. I think the one thing I absolutely love about the camel coat is because it shifts from day-to-night.

Color

Forget about your LBD- You cannot be afraid of color this season. All women need a great dress that will make a sensational entrance. Details are everything and can take a simple dress to the next level. Look for ruching, plunging back lines, pleats, ruffles- don’t think just because you’re wearing you’re a bold colored dress it has to be simple. And if so play it off with accessories- skinny belt or patterned hosiery.

Just Thoughts

Ok, so I know I've haven't been posting like I normally do. To say the least, life got in the way - everything and everyone was put on hold. Coming back, I must say I have a brand new inspiration and wish to share it with whomever comes across my blog. My friends always say, "Why don't you publicize your blog?!" ... honestly, I do this for my personal enjoyment; I could care less if no one read my blog, my thoughts or my feelings -this is just something that makes me happy. I'm sure I'll be talking to you all soon... until the next blog!!!

Why are there so many successful single women?

How in the hell did we get like this, there's so many wonderful, beautiful, successful women that are single. Have women fell victim to the out culture stereotypes: the career driven, dream- fulfilled and ambitious women that has enough passion to stop world hungry.

There are so many women out there similar to The Devil Wears Prada, Andrea Sachs; a young girl who moves to New York to chase her dreams. Her professional adventure was like living in hell but she would do anything just to pursue her dreams of someday becoming a journalist. And well she came into her journey with a committed boyfriend and ended up single with a committed career.

Instead of investing in a future with someone, women are putting that time towards their careers. Women are falling in love with their careers, especially now that we live in a day and age where we can do everything for ourselves. We have become in love with that phrase- I'm happy being single. Yes, it does have it ups but when it's all said and done and you come home from your career. Who do you have to share it with?

When it comes to marriages, those numbers are decreasing everyday in America. Statistics show that simply women (specifically career girls) are not getting married. It's the less-educated, simple job women who are filling the marriage gap.

It seems if a woman has the full package: brains, beauty, goal-oriented, career and the list could go on; she would in fact be in a relationship. However, for some odd reason one too many believe women need to lower their standards. In the most recent years, men's statuses are lower with a lack of money, power and influence. There is a role reversal in this generation of time. This makes it very difficult for these career girls to find a partner.

So what's a girl to do? Well, never lower your standards but always evaluate them. As, you get older; your needs and realistic expectations change. Make sure you're able to recognize the relevant qualities of man when he comes your way; the common values and goals, thoughtfulness, intelligence, respect and a mutual attraction.

Rock the Runway

I first seen model, actress Magdalena Frackowiak in the March 2010 issue of InStyle Magazine wearing this dress and I have been in love with it ever since. The Spring 2010 Versace Collection is to die for with vivid pastels, geometric prints, and short-short skirts. Here you'll see Ciara hit the carpet for the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue party with head to toe Versace. Right off the runway, Ciara rocked this super cute yellow and black print high-slit mini with platform shoes that are to die for.

These shoes are very eye catching. You can shop by many popular brands and stores to find these animal printed shoes. Find a variety of styles, colors, sizes and prices for the trendy animal printed shoe.

Trend Obsession: Military Chic

I love the military look that has been sweeping the runway this season. The olive-green, khaki and nude army pieces are perfect for the spring. You can take this look to so many levels with budget-friendly items of sequins, ruined tights, camo totes, and plenty of metal decorum. Beyonce's military tactics are quite simple. A green military jacket with detail finishing of zip pockets and buckles. Pair with a simple tank (style and color) of your choice. Then take the new slim fit, cropped camo pant or choose from an easy straight fitted cropped pant. For your choice of shoes, you could always go for a classic pump or even try a cage sandal. To finish off the look, don't forget to add your metal accents. For your make-up, you want to make sure you keep a clean face with flawless medium-buildable coverage and natural-looking radiance. So keep it simple with your face and play more with your eyes and lips. Now here's some inspiration on how to wear the latest looks in military-inspired fashions. Hope you enjoyed!

Blog Review: Go Go Answer Get @Wale

According to the dictionary definition, a 'girlfriend' a girl or young woman with whom a man is romantically involved and a 'boyfriend' a man who is the lover of a girl or young woman. These expressions have existed since the Victorian times, a girl is "romantically involved" with her "lover" – all hinting towards a sexual relationship. In extension, the romantic interest is serious- an exclusive relationship. Referring to someone as your 'girlfriend' or your 'boyfriend' is a specific description.

Relationship titles have changed, however. In our parent's day and age, couples went steady. The term boyfriend/girlfriend meant someone you were serious about. Today these terms are used in high school as "more an accessory used to decorate a sentence." (i.e. 'I'm goin' to the movies with my boyfriend/girlfriend.')

Titles have become meaningless. What signifies a boyfriend or girlfriend – just the sense of security, entitlement, or the ability to claim someone as your own. I know so many women that feel validated by titles, hearing him say, 'Hey, this is my girl.' Unfortunately, for men it doesn't work that way- they want their options, not to feel tied down to just one woman and to answer to no one about who they've been fucking. As Wale puts it, "Us men like to have the safety valve. The option to be able to say, 'But we're not in a relationship.' In other words, a get-out-of-pu$$y-jail-free card."

But my question is, what do you refer to someone that you've dating for some time, "the not-quite-my-boyfriend-but-we-still-f*c% associate." So many times, I myself have gotten into these types of relationship situations because it's too hard to gage someone's true feelings. No one wants to be the first to admit how they feel- women today find themselves putting it all out on the table (sometimes too early) and 'men' don't know how to deal.

To let the truth be told, men nowadays don't want to accept responsibility-they want to ignore the known and continue to go through their relationships with blinders. They've forgotten about the dates, deep conversations, showing you off to his friends and maybe even family and at the end of the night, lay you down as if you are the only one. But as time passes by, days turn into months-months turn into seasons- seasons turn into years- years of the same thing with no commitment. The ability to do all those boyfriend/girlfriend or relationship things with no commitment to each other.

Bottom-line no one likes restrictions, no matter from where or whom it's coming from. With commitment come restrictions. Restriction in a dictionary definition means something that restricts; a restrictive condition or regulation; limitation. "Not being able to sleep around, not being able to go to clubs every other night, and constant nagging about the aforementioned."

As the world continues to evolve, so does our culture, beliefs, and values. Will we ever get back to the golden times of when love was nothing to be ashamed of and we're not too scared to step up to the plate and call someone our boyfriend/girlfriend? I personally believe especially with my generation, we are too far gone. We have gotten away from the quite simple steps of courting someone and identifying him or her as the potential one. The title of boyfriend/girlfriend carries heavy weight of a potential future, building a life together to make that ultimate step of marital bliss.

Our society has made everything about convenience, with meaningless titles of boo, significant other, or just plain ole fuck buddy. But who's to say by putting the title of boyfriend/girlfriend will make everything ok or less complicated. Love and emotions cannot be easily defined, and it changes, sometimes day to day, or even hour to hour. So I guess what I'm trying to say is nothing in life is predictable or guaranteed. And no, no one wants to get hurt or have their heartbroken but I'd rather love than not have loved at all. Nothing in life is easy and neither is love and relationships.

Trend Obsession: Cage Shoes

Cage Shoes

It first started with designer Yves Saint Laurent Cage Shoes which many were indifferent about- the futuristic, edgy look was one of an acquired taste. Now other designers such as Jimmy Choo and Pierre Hardy have partaken in this sensational fashion accessory for this season. Its contemporary, architectural design has swept the runways to high profile celebrities and now to the streets. Some would compare this look to the gladiator sandal; however the caged shoe features countless horizontal and vertical straps that enclose the user’s foot.

The caged shoe is available in sandals, platform heels (my fav) and high stilettos. You can also find a large array of colors, designs, and embellishments of this shoe. With a wide variety of styles offered, any women can pull off this look. Most pair this shoe with a short mini, jumpsuit and leggings. The cage shoe is great for spring and even summer!!!

Gucci Spring Summer 2010 Collection

The Gucci Spring Summer 2010 Collection is the true definition of ready-to-wear luxury Italian wear of fashion. Designer Frida Giannini has teamed up with Gucci to serve today’s young, hip audience. The collection defines simplicity – featuring bright whites and splashes of ethnic bold colors that transcend for the everyday women. Accents of silver ‘technohorsebit’ motifs, metal embroidery, cut-out overlapping necklines and leather details create a very more sophisticated chic look.

Blog Review: Go Go Answer Get @Wale

I never did understand why "we adore those who ignore us and ignore who adores us". It's a silly cat and mouse game that we love to play. No one likes to feel vulnerable but that's the only way that we can achieve #thatthing. The feeling of not knowing- wrecking your brain trying to figure out if their thinking about you as much as your thinking about them. "Many of us can attest to…constant checking of the cell phone you left by a window in order to get perfect service in case they call." Like myself I'm guilty of "forcing yourself to go out with your friends just to stop thinking about them- which usually doesn't work because you're still checking your damn phone!"

When did love become so easy to achieve but mutually hard to maintain? Did the high school chasing games follow us into our adult years? These questions do lead someone to believe- "Good girls go for bad guys."

I don't know why so many good girls fall for bad guys- I myself was at that stage in my life, once upon a time. The bad guys had the big fast cars, own place, and a personality that could captivate the room. On the other hand, the good guys were the ones into the books, didn't go out much, introvert personality and seemed to know nothing about having fun.

Lord knows I've dated all types of men; good, bad and then some. According to the Wale I am not single, "I don't believe there is such a thing as being single. Like single, single. There is always someone your mind or heart is with, whether it be an ex or a friend who doesn't know it yet. There is always somebody else. "This is very well true and I can't disagree.

But when it's all said in the name of #thatthing good guys and good girls do finish last. Your love for someone can be right but the timing could be all wrong. When people get over the taboo of love, remove the blinders and are both willing to become vulnerable then #thatthing is attainable. As Wale stated, "just remember, getting completely wrapped up in one person when they have several options, is to play Russian roulette with your heart and mind."

Beyonce Sets New Standards at the 2010 Grammys

___________________________________________________________

Beyonce was one of my favorite Best Dressed at the 2010 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center on Sunday (January 31) in Los Angeles. A woman not afraid to show off her curves with this Stephane Rolland form-fitting textured detailed gown. She had 10 nominations including "Record of the Year" and "Album of the Year". Beyonce took home six awards for songs like "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" for Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Halo" and Best Contemporary R&B Album for "I Am…Sasha Fierce". Even though she did not win Album of the Year, which was won by her opponent Taylor Swift- Beyonce made history with taking home the most Grammys ever as a female performer in a single night. That's what I call a Phenomenal Women.

Where Do I Go From Here?

Not too long ago, I had my life planned out to a CAPITAL T. I was working for a MBE company- getting my marketing and public relations experience early prior to graduating into the real world. After graduation, I planned on continuing to work at that current employer while prepping myself for graduate school. Then, within two years- "LA Here I Come" to attend University of Southern California's Graduate Program for Communication Management. As one can already tell, I can go on and on about my life's plan- BUT….
On December 30th, 2009 my plans were derailed; I got a call from my supervisor that my boss wants to meet with everyone individually. As the night had passed; my anxiety and constant phones calls from my girl friend /co-workers; the night had turned into day quickly. The next day, time couldn't go by any slower for my 3pm appointment with my boss. Walking into the office, up the stairwell seemed longer than ever. I was greeted by my two supervisors to have a seat in the conference room which looked like a long night of shuffled papers and files all over the table. My boss- starts off with light conversation asking me if I've talked to the girls (my co-workers) and so on. Then, he goes into the BIG spill "Janelle, I'm going to have to let you go." All, I could do was smile because I honestly can't say that I was surprised, I had known that the company had faced many financial and business hardships over the past year. Walking out of the office, there were no hard feelings just thoughts of confusion. "Where do I go from here?"
I had spent 48 hours of deep thoughts and questions seeking answers from God. To make matters worse, I still hadn't heard from any of my co-workers turned girlfriends- everyone was speechless, numb, not knowing what to say to one another in each other's time of need. Some may not understand but out of all the years of my employment history this was the first time I had been unemployed by matters I could not control. I've been working, since I can remember and anyone who knows me knows that I am a work-alcoholic. The feeling of earning and having your own is priceless to me. My mother has always told me – whatever you want, you have to work for it.
So, where am I now? I'm still unemployed and like many other still job searching. This road has been very tough for me because for once in my life I am letting God take full control- where I'll end up next I do not know. I take this as a blessing- how I lost job right at the end of the year and starting off 2010 onto something new … a new attitude and a new leap of faith. Fortunately, I was able to work out something with my employer to just work as a Freelance Marketing Consultant and continue to my internship with the company for my last semester of undergrad. I'm taking each day as it goes, focusing on the bigger picture which is me. I'm doing things that I enjoy (i.e. like starting this blog- which I've put off for so many years).
